DJ NYD

DJ NYD is a DJ and MC operation based in Naarm/Melbourne, built for rooms that want the music to do the work. The sets run on R&B, hip hop and open format — heritage records alongside new edits, paced across a long night rather than spent in the first hour. Weddings, corporate events and concerts. Sound, lighting and stage are handled in-house. One team, one signal chain, no loose ends and no third-party hand-offs on the night. Bookings are taken selectively. Every event is treated as the only event. It's not loud. It's correct.

DJ NYD is a Melbourne DJ who plays weddings, private events and corporate functions. Clients book him because he reads a room well and switches genres without losing the dance floor.

He learned on turntables, and it still shows. His setup centres on a Rane Seventy-Two mixer with Rane Twelve decks or Technics 1200 MK2s, and he mixes, cuts and blends live. He doesn't run pre-built playlists. Every set is built on the night from what the crowd is responding to. A cocktail hour might move from soul and disco into Motown, and later the floor can go from 90s and 2000s anthems through current chart hits and house into the classics that pull every generation up for the last song.

Weddings are the core of his work. NYD knows a wedding DJ is also part of the production. That means timing the grand entrance to the second, bringing the speeches in cleanly, cueing the first dance, keeping the MC and venue staff in sync, and adjusting when the schedule slips. He plans each event closely with the couple beforehand. He learns their story, the songs that matter to them and the ones that are off limits, and then leaves space on the night to read the crowd.

Behind the decks he's also a founder. Years of running events showed him how much depends on scattered run sheets, last-minute texts and crew who aren't on the same page. So he started building Kadens, a platform that helps DJs, MCs and bands manage bookings, run sheets and crew in real time. Working both sides, as the performer and as the person building the tools, gives him a clear view of what makes an event run smoothly and what makes it fall apart.

His clients say the same things about him: he's calm under pressure, he's easy to work with, and the dance floor never empties. Whether it's a 60-guest vineyard reception, a 300-person ballroom wedding or a brand launch in the CBD, NYD brings the same preparation and energy, and cares about getting the night right.
